We gained exclusive access to Rolex's four factories and explored this mythically closed watch house. Rolex replica india has a special status. Rightly so. Still, a lot is said about the brand, but not everything is true. We gained exclusive access to Rolex's four factories and explored this mythically closed watch house. 1 Rolex makes all watches 100% in-house To start right away with the biggest myth. Rolex makes almost everything within its own walls, but not everything. Since the 1990s, the brand has pursued a vertical integration strategy. To that end, Rolex bought a number of suppliers and developed the expertise needed to be able to make all 'strategic parts' itself, as Rolex calls it. The only two parts that Rolex does not produce itself are the glass and the hands. 2 Rolex was to be bought by Warren Buffett The greatest philanthropist and one of the richest men in the world once joked during a press conference that he would like to buy Rolex. It is doubtful whether he actually considered it, but one thing is certain: the ambition is virtually unattainable. Rolex is wholly owned by the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation, a charitable foundation founded by Rolex's creator in 1945. Buy tissot first copy watches India This foundation oversees the day-to-day running of Rolex and a number of charities that the foundation supports. Reportedly (no one speaks about it openly) a sale of Rolex SA is next to impossible. Not only because it is very unlikely that the foundation will ever agree to this, but also because it would be virtually impossible under the articles of association. The reason for this lies in the status of the ownership structure - although it is not clear exactly how it works. 3 Rolex has completely machined its production Rolex is estimated to make around 800,000 watches a year. Anyone who imagines this can imagine that it can never be just manual work. It is true that Rolex has large parts of its production done by machines and robots, but no more or less than brands like IWC or Audemars Piguet. Yet there are large parts of the production that are still handcrafted. When a task is too delicate to be done entirely by a machine, hands are involved. Buy from rado first copy watches in mumbai 4 Rolex has built its own bridge For many, the Hans Wilsdorf bridge was proof that Rolex really had too much money. What is the story? A bridge was recently built behind the Rolex headquarters, which would significantly reduce the time to reach the headquarters. Because the municipality of Geneva thought that this was too little reason to build such a bridge itself, a joint venture was concluded between the municipality and the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation. The foundation paid for the bridge, the municipality of Geneva would have it built. So it happened . At Rolex they wash their hands in innocence: the foundation paid, not Rolex SA. 5 Rolex made the first waterproof watch with its Oyster First of all, this: The first priority for watches in the 1920s was to make them dustproof, not waterproof. But because dustproof watches didn't make a very sexy poster, watchmakers mostly communicated that they were waterproof. The aim to make them waterproof is as old as the wristwatch itself: Kaiser Wilhelm already commissioned Girard-Perregaux at the end of the nineteenth century to equip his navy crew with watches. It is not entirely clear what exactly was the first waterproof watch, but experiments were already carried out in the early twentieth century. And in 1926 Wilsdorf came up with his famous Oyster case. That turned out to be the first truly mass-produced and successful watch case that was, indeed, as closed as an oyster. 6 A Rolex is always a good investment The Rolex brand name is so well known worldwide that the watch is considered a global status symbol: if you can afford a Rolex, you made it. That, and the renowned quality of the timepieces, ensures that the brand has an unprecedented strong position in the market for vintage watches. But that does not necessarily mean that every Rolex is a good investment. The way you maintain it, the scarcity and even random market forces are at least as decisive for your watch. Rolex operates completely independently from other watchmakers Many major watch brands are wholly (or at least partially) owned by major luxury conglomerates. The brand has also been working on its vertical integration strategy for years. Yet that does not mean that the company operates completely separately from other brands. As is known, Rolex often collaborates with Patek Philippe, which is also completely independent family owned. But Rolex also collaborates (albeit sporadically) with brands outside of that. The silicon balance, for example, was developed in collaboration with Patek Philippe and Swatch Group.
